Mechanical Anchoring

Ramset has been offering mechanical anchors for over 50 years. During this time, trusted Ramset brand names, like DynaBolt™ and TruBolt™, have become so renowned for their quality, reliability and performance that their names have entered into common language on building sites all over New Zealand.

Choosing the right mechanical anchor for your project:

  • Load and substrate: What is the size and type of load it must support? Are you anchoring into concrete, brick, block or something else? Each anchor category is tested for specific capacities, and you want a solution that not only supports the load today but remains secure over time.
  • Environmental conditions: structures in coastal or high-moisture areas, for example, are subject to accelerated corrosion, so it’s important to choose corrosion resistant anchors such as stainless steel or coated anchors. In areas with wildly fluctuating temperatures anchors can also be subject to expansion/contraction stress.

When to use light-duty anchors

Light duty anchors such as WallMate™ mini anchors are designed for low-load residential, commercial and industrial applications where you’re fastening everyday items that involve quick installation with low force on the anchor. Examples include hanging small fixtures and fittings, and fixing shelving, light signage or trim.

Medium duty anchor applications

As the name suggests, medium duty anchors offer higher load capacity than light duty and are used for securing brackets or frames, installing handrails and anchoring timber or light steel to concrete or brick. Our anchor bolt range includes the DynaBolt™ Plus Sleeve Anchor for medium duty anchoring of timber and steel fixtures to concrete, brick or block.

When to use heavy duty anchors

Heavy duty anchors are engineered for high load, critical, or structural applications. These anchors, such as AnkaScrew™ Xtrem™ support high tension and loads and are typically used for things like structural steel, machinery bases and other demanding construction jobs.
